Why oxio in Calgary?

Calgary's a big enough market that oxio gets compared to everyone — Shaw, Telus, the works. What keeps coming up is the same thing: no rental fee on the router, and a price that's still the same six months later.

What oxio costs in Calgary

We keep an eye on oxio's prices in Calgary so you don't have to. The postal code we watch here is T2P 2B4. Last time we checked, on September 26, 2026, oxio had 7 internet plans there on the Rogers West network, from $49 to $95 a month. Your own street can differ a little, so you'll see your exact options when you sign up.

  • Network: oxio runs these plans over the Rogers West network here.
  • Lowest price: 50 Mbps for $49 a month.
  • Fastest plan: 1.5 Gbps down and 200 Mbps up for $95 a month.
  • oxio's own pick: 1.5 Gbps is the plan oxio marks "Most popular".
  • Bigger home? One Wi-Fi device comes with every plan. A 2-device mesh setup is $6 a month more.
  • Upload: 50 Mbps and 100 Mbps upload as fast as they download. If you're on video calls or backing up files all day, that matters more than the download number.
  • Across Alberta: all 9 Alberta cities we watch are on Rogers West, with the same prices at every one, so Calgary pays what Airdrie and Edmonton pay.

Shaw's old hometown, and the network oxio rides here

Shaw Communications ran its head office out of Shaw Court in downtown Calgary for years before Rogers' acquisition closed on April 3, 2023, after which Shaw was amalgamated into Rogers and its operations rebranded [2]. oxio rents that same cable network under the name Rogers West, which runs from BC through Manitoba, Alberta included [1] — so in Calgary, oxio typically arrives over the same line a Rogers customer has, ex-Shaw underneath.

The other wired option is TELUS PureFibre, part of a build-out TELUS has described as a $17-billion investment across Alberta's network through 2026, with a $430-million tranche earmarked for Calgary alone in 2022 [3]. PureFibre reaches up to 3 Gbps in the city, but the listed pricing is built around a 2-year term [4] — worth noticing if what you actually want is to not be locked in.

What changed for Calgary switchers this year

As of June 12, 2026, the CRTC banned every Canadian ISP and wireless carrier from charging a fee to activate, change, or cancel a plan [5]. That covers Rogers and TELUS both, so a fee that used to sit between you and switching in Calgary is simply gone now.

If you're a long-time Shaw customer who still thinks of your bill as a Shaw bill, check the date on it: Rogers added about $7 a month to certain packages starting with the first bill on or after August 18, 2026 [6]. oxio's own terms stay the same either way: no term contract, $0 activation, installation and shipping, and the modem is lent [7, 1].
